The funniest video I’ve seen in a while
January 19, 2007 on 8:58 pm | In Humor | No CommentsThis video is from a group of comedians from Costa Rica, called La Media Docena. It mocks the awful VJs we have here in CR, and also makes fun of metalheads, latin music, etc. It is very well done, and the irony is that the cumbia video actually looks better than most of the music videos from Costa Rican bands you normally see on TV.
Enjoy!
Sam & Max are back! Who knew? More importantly, who cares?
September 11, 2006 on 6:08 pm | In Games, Humor | 1 CommentSam: Percent sign, ampersand, dollar sign.
Max: And colon, semicolon too!
Psychic: What are you [bleep]ing doing?
Sam: Swearing in longhand, asterisk-mouth.
That quote is from Sam & Max Hit the Road, one of the funniest, wittiest games I’ve ever played. It is an old adventure game from LucasArts in the vein of Day of the Tentacle or Grim Fandango. It was released in 1993, and follows the adventures of two detectives: Sam, the dog, and Max, his rabbit-like partner.
The thing about the game is that the interaction and chemistry between Sam and Max is just hilarious. I remember the adventure to be incredibly tough, but you still laughed out loud at the stupid things they say, specially Max’s wit:
Sam: [studying an Animatronic mammoth] I’ve seen hair like this somewhere before.
Max: Your butt?
Today I read the news that Sam & Max Episode 1: Culture Shock will be released in October. This game has been in development for close to FOREVER, so it is great news that they will finally release it. There was going to be a sequel in 1997, but it was canned - they can say whatever they want, but the reason was that it wasn’t a 3D FPS, the only type of game being developed then. When I heard these news I was like Max on the Jungle Inn:
Sam: I have this sudden craving for an umbrella drink.
Evelyn Morrison: Evelyn Morrison’s Jungle Inn has the greatest umbrella drinks in the world, with over two hundred and thirty-seven kinds of rum.
Max: All in just ONE drink? Which way to the bar!
Sam: Take it easy, Max; you don’t even drink.
Max: Oh, yeah. The toucan must’ve put words into my mouth.

BTW, this is the debut of the new Games category. Looks like shortly I’ll have more categories than posts. And yes, the title is also a quote from S&M….
You can expect to see ANYTHING in the streets of Costa Rica
August 8, 2006 on 7:57 am | In General, Humor, Random rants | No CommentsI’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

I took those pictures some days ago, on different days, on my way to work. Yes, that means that they were taken between 8am and 10am, in the heavily transited roads of San Jose downtown, at rush hour. My commute sucks, and these people are not helping.
I used my cellphone to take the pictures, that’s why they look like cr*p.
Who? Here? At the mall?!?!?!?!?
July 20, 2006 on 2:35 pm | In General, Humor, Travel | No CommentsGuess which famous fivesome was doing a presentation at the mall where we went to eat here near the hotel in Makati?
Give up? Well:
Yes, none other than the guys from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy…I have to admit that I like the show (guilty pleasures…) but come on … if I ever thought that I would run into these guys, the Greenbelt mall in Makati would be one of the last places on Earth were I would think that would happen. Then again, it was one of the last places of the world were I though I would end up, so…
Airports are ugly
June 7, 2006 on 1:54 am | In Airports, Humor | No CommentsDouglas Adams has one of the BEST quotes ever:
It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the phrase, ‘as pretty as an airport.’ Airports are ugly. Some are very ugly. Some attain a degree of ugliness that can only be the result of a special effort.
Everytime I fly through MIA or SJO, I can’t help but think of that quote. It comes from The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul , one of his non-HHGTG books. Thought I share it with you. ![]()
A need for this product
May 23, 2006 on 5:19 pm | In Humor | No CommentsSometimes you really wonder who writes the product descriptions on web stores. REALLY wonder.
The other day I was checking out an aluminum briefcase over at Geeks.com. The case looks kinda nice, but what really caught my attention was the “Additional Information” section:
Additional Information:
* Product requirements:
* A need for this product
A need for this product????? Come on, you can do better than that. That has to be either the template’s placeholder, or a SEVERE lack of imagination from the writers. Anyway, it made me laugh.
